What is Mental Health Treatment?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It impacts how we relate to others and the world around us, make choices in daily life, and handle challenges. Mental illnesses are a wide range of conditions that affect your mental health and make it difficult to simply live life, fulfil your responsibilities, or even do the things you love.

At KAV Mental Health & Psychiatry, our licensed mental health professionals work with each patient on a personal level, because each person’s mental health is different and has its own unique needs. Our team works together with patients to identify the underlying causes of their mental health issues and develop ways to manage and overcome them.

Telehealth: Comprehensive Online
Mental Health Treatment

Our online mental health services provide all of the benefits of our in-person care, but are accessible from the comfort of your own home. We use a completely confidential, HIPPA-compliant video platform, and provide flexible scheduling and same-day appointments six days a week, so you can progress through your care at your own pace. Access support and treatment, whenever and wherever you need it.

Mental Health Assessment

Helping our patients achieve mental wellness is only possible when we’re able to identify the condition or disorder they’re struggling with. That’s why our Director of Mental Health will conduct a comprehensive evaluation during your first visit and provide you with an official mental health diagnosis. Once we’ve come to understand your unique needs, and after a diagnosis has been made, we can then begin building an individualized treatment plan that may involve a combination of medication, counseling, and therapy.

Psychiatric Treatment

An accurate mental health diagnosis is such a crucial part of the treatment process because it informs if, when, and which type of medications are appropriate for a patient. Our licensed psychiatrist will help make that determination following your initial assessment and may decide to utilize medications to safely and effectively stabilize symptoms that accompany your mental health disorder. Our nurse practitioners will monitor your medications closely and conduct regular check-ups to discuss and make necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

Individual Counseling

Our confidential, one-on-one counseling sessions provide patients with a positive setting where they can open up about their issues and past experiences at a pace they feel most comfortable with. One of our licensed mental health counselors will work with you to identify the underlying issues of your mental health disorder that are causing you pain and anguish. Each discreet session is an opportunity to heal and develop new skills, such as healthy coping mechanisms and stress management techniques, that can be applied to your everyday life.

GROUP THERAPY

At KAV Mental Health & Psychiatry, we host various group therapy sessions that allow our patients to connect with others who are experiencing similar mental health issues and challenges in their life, reminding our patients that they are not alone. We keep our groups small to ensure the topics we covered are focused on what’s important to the group. This collaborative, judgment-free setting gives patients an opportunity to listen and learn from one another, provide encouragement and support, and build healthy friendships that last beyond therapy.

Testimonials

“This place has been a blessing from day one. As a mother of 3, it’s not always the easiest to get away from the kiddos. I love the fact that I don’t have to leave my home to meet with my therapist. The online counseling aspect is really convenient and was honestly the only way for me to get the help I needed. I plan on continuing my monthly sessions because I keep seeing more growth and positive change in myself each time.”

“Depression controlled my life for a very long time, and up until a few months ago I was hopeless of that ever changing. KAV helped me find balance again. They helped me find peace. I rediscovered what being happy feels like. Though I still have bad days, I now have the tools and support systems to get me through them. I finally feel in control of my life again, and for that I am grateful.”

– J.C.
“I started feeling really anxious and depressed after the birth of my first child, which was when one of my close friends told me about KAV. My first visit with the doctor was great. She asked me a lot of questions, was super attentive, and gave me the time to talk through my issues. I could tell that she genuinely cared about trying to help me. We talked about different medication options and she suggested therapy. I was hesitant at first, but I’m really glad I said yes because my counselor has really helped me explore all this new anxiety. It changes every day with a baby, but I do feel like I’m in such a better place now, and so much more available for my daughter.”

-E.M.
“Pain pills took me down a really dark path for many years. I’ve been to rehab several times, but could never stay clean for long after I got out. I thank the doctors and counselors at KAV every day for helping me turn my life around. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve been sober for 14 months and have the belief in myself that it will stay that way. Most importantly, I can be the father and husband my family needs. Thank you KAV — you all truly saved my life!!!”

– J.K.
“Paying attention for long periods of time has been a struggle for as long as I can remember. It’s made things like school…relationships…holding down a job…etc pretty tough. Prior to coming here I’d heard of ADHD but never really looked into it…but after just a few visits my doctor and counselor helped me better understand it and get it under control. It’s been a really good experience so far…I only wish I would’ve pursued getting help like this sooner.”
